±¾É«ÊÓƵ Honors Manufacturing Day!
This year, Manufacturing Day is October 4th, and while many events take place that day many declare October as Manufacturing Month. Manufacturing Day is all about addressing common misconceptions about manufacturing and allowing companies to address those concerns and showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry and connect with America’s future workforce.
±¾É«ÊÓƵ takes pride in showcasing our nation’s most iconic industry by opening its doors to the community. ±¾É«ÊÓƵ offers various tours throughout the year, focusing on bringing students to the facility to experience the workplace first hand. For the last 5 years, ±¾É«ÊÓƵ has hosted over 500 eighth graders in the Heavy Metal Tour. The Heavy Metal tour is designed to showcase innovative, and educational career pathways, exposing area youth and educators to the robust opportunities in manufacturing. to learn more about The Heavy Metal Tour. In fact, ±¾É«ÊÓƵ regularly brings other companies and groups to Phillips, Wisconsin to tour the facility and meet team members so they can benchmark ±¾É«ÊÓƵ’ vibrant culture and manufacturing practices.
±¾É«ÊÓƵ also inspires and encourages young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering by offering internships and co-ops. BWP is partnered with Superior Talent Project, a talent recruitment event, that brings together local employers in the region, as well as students across the Midwest who are looking to start their career. This program allows candidates to network and explore ±¾É«ÊÓƵ and the community by spending a weekend in Phillips. ±¾É«ÊÓƵ is proud to support individuals considering a career in the manufacturing industry and has hired approximately 15 interns to help them gain more insight. Today’s science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) graduates will power the next chapter of American production and innovation and ±¾É«ÊÓƵ is excited to jump start new approaches to growing the manufacturing talent pool. Manufacturing Day was created by Founding Partner Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International in 2012. Manufacturing Day has enjoyed support from many organizations aligned with its mission of positively changing the public perception of modern manufacturing. Organizations that have played a vital role in working with FMA to successfully grow this national celebration of all things manufacturing include: the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).
